Bright Futures

Bright Futures– this charity is one that I love. This year it is exciting because I have been asked to MC the lunch. Nicole Porritt and Leigh O’Neill started Bright Futures and all the money goes to the Bali Children Foundation. The Founder of BCF, Marg Barry was awarded an OBE this year. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it but what an incredible honour for all the work Marg does for all the children in Bali and she is an absolute legend and a top woman to boot!!

The Indonesian island province of Bali is famous worldwide for its ancient culture, spectacular beach resorts, breathtaking landscapes that include steaming volcanoes, hectares of terraced, emerald green rice fields, tropical rainforests and the most warm and welcoming people. Idyllic in every sense.

However, Bali’s remote rural communities have been heavily impacted by both man-made and natural disasters and many families are caught in the poverty trap with little or no income. There is minimal government assistance

and all education must be paid for. The drop-out rate in rural primary schools is very high. Children frequently have no option other than a lifetime of working on the land.

Our vision, at Bali Children Foundation, is to provide an educational pathway for disadvantaged Balinese children – a journey leading to growth and long term sustainability.

The Brights Futures lunch for Bali Children Foundation is – Friday 16th November and is being held at Encore in St Kilda. It is the same venue as last year and a great place for lunch overlooking the Bay. There are fabulous silent and main auction items and it is a really fun day. Book your tickets through –
