Barwon Stroke Support Centre

by Sally

I recently took part in a 25km walk from Geelong to Drysdale as a fundraiser to support the Barwon Stroke Centre.  Yes I walked 25km!! I was so proud of myself for achieving the walk as I don’t think I have done more than about 5km at a time. I wanted to show my boys that if you put your mind to it you can do anything!! As I limped over the finish line, Nic was there cheering me on, or maybe he was just excited at having a day off school.. hard to tell!  Anyway, together we raised over $25k – a huge achievement!! I don’t think I could actually walk properly for at least a week but it was so worth it!

The Barwon Stroke Support Centre is a house in Geelong where stroke victims and their families can go for support. It’s the first of its kind. In addition to participating in the walk and fundraising lunch, I also donated the furniture for the house when it was being set up!!!
